Greetings from the TED conference in Vancouver, British Columbia, where Tedsters (I count myself as one) gathered for a special 30-year anniversary and a lot more science- and technology-based talks than I can remember in the 13 years I have been attending. Although most of the best talks will eventually make it to the TED.com website, attendees willing to pay $7,500 and up get first crack at some magnificent ideas being shared.
A few of the old-guard Tedsters had some of the most interesting predictions at TED. Nicholas Negroponte, the first TED talker of the conference and the founder of the MIT Media Lab, put it right out there: “I predict you’ll be able to ingest information in 30 years rather than read or hear it. You’ll take a pill and know a language. The way to do this is through the bloodstream.”
