With cases mounting, the Ebola virus outbreak continues to raise concerns. We don't know what's going to happen, and some of the things that could happen are worrisome. The great bulk of the cases are still contained in a handful of West African nations. Other than isolated cases, the outbreak has not spread from there. The virus is normally not transmittable over the air, although there is some evidence that transmission between pigs and macaque monkeys can occur, as discovered by researchers in Canada back in 2012.
However, there is no evidence I've seen that this has happened between humans. The virus is passed on through contact, and this has greatly limited its ability to spread.
